Fall is all about the warm, spiced, nutty, and sweet flavors. Whenever we think of Fall first thing that comes to mind the food and flavor!
For us, the ultimate flavor for fall is a combination of strong yet subtle flavors with indulgent aromas. Such a combination of taste and aroma can take your senses to the journey too good to be true.
Yes, we are talking about a spin-off of the cinnamon roll... but in the form of a bread loaf. You might think that making a cinnamon roll and simple bread may need some extra-ordinary practices and certain level of patience, but trust us when we say that it is so easy to make..... and spoiler alert, no yeast is used. So no proofing time!
So why wait? Let us dig into this beauty!

The Texture Profile
It is so soft that each bite will melt in your mouth and the deep aroma of cinnamon swirled in the bread complements perfectly. It is dense like a pound cake, but still super moist. To elevate the taste of the cinnamon, we are preparing a vanilla-based bread batter. Indeed, it is perfect for celebrating the Fall season. Best served with sunsets, evening tea, or coffee with your loved ones.

The Recipe: Cinnamon Swirl Bread
Preparation Time: 25 minutes
Cooking Time: 50 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour 15 minutes
Servings: 6
Ingredients:
Vanilla Bread
- 2 cups All-purpose Flour
- 1 ½ tsp Vanilla Extract
- 2/3 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- ½ tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Baking Soda
- ¼ cup Vegetable oil
- 2 tbsp butter, at room temperature
- 2/3 cup Whole Milk, at room temperature
- 1/3 cup Sour Cream, at room temperature
Cinnamon Swirl
- 1 ½ tbsp Grounded cinnamon
- ½ cup Granulated Sugar
Vanilla Cream Cheese Icing
- 1/3 cup Confectionary Sugar
- 2 tbsp Cream Cheese, at room temperature
- 1 tbsp Whole milk, at room temperature
- 2 tbsp butter, at room temperature
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
Directions
- Preheat the oven at 350-degree F.
- Take a 9x5 loaf pan and grease it with butter or use cooking spray.
Cinnamon Swirl
- In a bowl, mix the ground cinnamon and sugar and set aside.

Vanilla Bread
- In a large bowl, mix flour, salt, baking soda and set aside.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together sugar and butter until fluffy, then add an egg. Remember to whisk until mixture is pale yellow.
- Add oil, vanilla, milk, and sour cream to the egg-sugar mixture and mix until combined.
- Now pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture and fold gently until no lumps of dry ingredients are left.
- Pour half of the bread batter into the prepared tin and evenly sprinkle the cinnamon sugar over.
- With the help of a spoon, cover the cinnamon sugar with the remaining bread batter. The cinnamon sugar may stick to the batter, just spread using a spoon. (Tip: Use small scoops of batter to cover open areas)
- Now make swirls with the help of a knife. Try to make a big and visible swirl but do not push the knife too deep into the batter; otherwise, the layers will be overmixed, and you might lose the swirl design.
- Bake the mixture for 45 minutes to 50 minutes on 350 Degrees Fahrenheit. Halfway through baking, cover pan with tin foil or aluminum foil to avoid over-browning.
- Stick a toothpick into the bread to see if it is done. If the toothpick comes out clean without any batter, slide the bread onto a cooling rack.
- Make sure to let it rest for 30 minutes.

Vanilla Cream Cheese Icing
- In a bowl, add cream cheese, butter, and sugar. Gradually at milk and whisk until fluffy.
- Add vanilla and fold.
- The icing is ready to pour over the bread or you can always serve on the side.

Serving Idea
Pour the icing over the bread. Slice and serve with tea, coffee, or alone. Or you can make a personal serving and let people pour the icing themselves.

How to store?
You can store the bread on the counter for a day, covered and at room temperature. The bread can also last for a week in the fridge but make sure to keep it covered; otherwise, the bread will become tough on the inside and soggy on the outside.
You can also freeze the bread for 2 to 3 months in the freezer if it is not covered with icing. The best way is to freeze individual slices. Every time you want to eat, just heat it through in the preheated oven at 300-degree F for 5 minutes, and it will be just as fresh!
